Our Mission

Our Mission

The primary goal of the Lake Norman United Lacrosse Program is to develop student-athletes of character and integrity who will serve as positive members of the community and the greater society. Our secondary goal is to provide a well-organized and implemented program that is appreciated and favorably received by the parents of the community. And thirdly we hope to foster a life-long enjoyment for the game of lacrosse for all those involved.

We believe that the following objectives will best explain the team's mission.

  • We will promote pride, unity, and confidence in the Lake Norman United Lacrosse Youth Program, Lake Norman High School Lacrosse program and the entire Lake Norman United Family.
  • We will place priority on our academic endeavors, and recognize the importance of intellectual growth throughout our elementary, middle and high school careers. We will maintain satisfactory grades in school and emphasize the importance of keeping a proper relationship and balance between scholastic and athletic endeavors.
  • We will practice positive leadership and display the courage necessary to advocate just causes in the face of public or social pressures.
  • We will hold ourselves responsible and accountable for our thoughts, feelings, and actions; we recognize that as student-athletes we represent the Lake Norman Community.
  • We understand the immense opportunities afforded us as members of the Lake Norman Community. Through our interactions on the field, at school and in the broader community, we will demonstrate the virtues of compassion, sensitivity, and respect.

The Lake Norman United Lacrosse program has a strong foundation built on the values of family, community, and positive attitudes. All members of the program will strive to uphold this tradition through hard work, professionalism, and loyalty.

Family:
We believe in relationships that are grounded in honesty, trust, and respect. As student-athletes, we will meet our responsibilities with integrity, persistence and confidence. Through the bonds we create, we will hold our teammates, our classmates, the entire Lake Norman Community, and ourselves in the highest regard.

Community: As visible members at school and in the community, we have an opportunity to strengthen our community through active participation and service. In giving of ourselves, we can enrich the lives of others around us. Through this process, we might also know the reciprocal benefits of engaging with a diverse world.

Attitude: Regardless of the challenges faced, we embrace a commitment to always put forth our best effort. Our attitude will be defined by our strength of character and our constant pursuit of excellence on the field, in the classroom, and within the community. The pride and confidence we derive from our team activities will not deter us from recognizing the great privilege we have been presented as student-athletes in the Lake Norman area.

Lake Norman Program Values

  • We believe in honesty and integrity in all we say and do.
  • We believe in compassion and gratitude for those we serve and each other.
  • We believe in accountability to society, our community, our partners and each other.
  • We believe in and respect the uniqueness, privacy and dignity of each and every individual.
  • We believe in the continuous pursuit of organizational excellence and best practices.
  • We believe in teamwork and collaboration to achieve our vision, mission and to support the youth we serve and uphold our values.
  • We exist for the benefit of all kids. We do NOT exist for the benefit of the adults or a select group of kids.

Our Goal is to…

  1. Provide a positive, fulfilled experience
  2. Teach the participants the skills, rules, strategy and discipline of lacrosse and encourage good sportsmanship, self-confidence and teamwork
  3. Promote healthy and safe physical activity for all participants
  4. Build character by offering a team experience, regardless of individual ability, stressing skill development and a positive attitude regardless of winning or losing
  5. Provide opportunities for playing time for all participants as much as possible. (Exceptions to this may include chronic missed practice time, disrespect for the game, officials or team)

We expect that our coaches and parents will not only teach this to the players but also practice it themselves during the games. By adhering to both the rules and philosophy of the program, the playing experience for all is improved.

As adults we must always keeping in mind, regardless of the situation that it is about ALL the kids. Not just a single kid, not your kid, my kid, a small group of kids or a single team of kids – it is about every single kid in the program… regardless of ability, athleticism, skills, physical attributes, age, sex, race or any other factor. We as adults must always conduct ourselves in a professional and (proper) adult like manner. Our expectations, attitudes, opinions and all other perceptions must remain in perspective that we are dealing with young kids. In case you did not catch it the first time, please let us repeat… regardless of the situation, it is about ALL the kids.
