2019 Girls Summer Programs

WHAT:  GIRLS LACROSSE CLINIC - General Lacrosse Clinic (Skills/ Positioning & Game Situations)

WHERE:  Brawley Middle School  (Lower Field)

WHEN:  Saturday July 20th - Sunday July 21st

TIME:   9am-2pm

COST:   $150 per player

WHO:   All Middle School (6th-8th) & Elementary (2nd -5th  Grade) Athletes who have previous Lacrosse Experience

*Groupings will be Age/Skill appropriate.  

- All positions will have an opportunity to learn, and participate.  
- Goalie equipment will not be supplied.  

This clinic is a joint venture with the Lake Norman United and the Coaching Staff for the Lake Norman High School Ladies Lacrosse program.  We wish to thank CRANKSHOOTER Lacrosse for their support and sponsorship with this clinic along with the administration at Brawley Middle School for their support of our program.  

The clinic will be administered by the Head Coach of the Lake Norman High School Ladies Lacrosse program, Mr. CJ Willox & assisted by the Assistant Coach for the LKN Wildcats, Dr. Andy Cook.  The remainder of the coaches will be supplemented by current staff for either the LNU Lacrosse Program and/or the Lake Norman Lady Wildcats current & former players. 

  • Please Bring:   WATER – SNACKS – LUNCH  
  • Limited Qty. of Pizza/Gatorade/Snacks will also be available for purchase at lunch time.

The Clinic will cover the following Topics & Fundamental IMOPRTANCE of each of the following:

1.    Work Ethic;
2.    Teamwork;
3.    Stretching & Warm-up;
4.    Offensive Field Work;
5.    Defensive Field Work;
6.    Riding/Clearing & Transition; Day 2
7.    5 Drills that you can do at home to help you improve; Day 2 first session
8.    5 Drills that you can do to help someone else improve – and the appropriate way to “correct” them; Day 2
9.    Draws 
10.  Games/competitions for prizes: Day 2
      a)    Furthest shot, furthest partner passing
      b)   Team Relay races
11.  Questions/ Answers

Each Day will be broken down into (4) general sessions as follows: 9am-2pm

Day 1

1. Warm Up & Discussion: 9am

  • Meet/greet, work ethic (how we practice/do drills), respect coaches/teammates, supportive environment..
  • Proper warmup, strategies, reasoning behind a good warmup, reducing injuries, getting stronger, stance/posture for movements, Take it Serious. 
  • Stick work/Ground balls…
    • Passing/catching: instructions, demonstrations, into partner passing
    • Ground balls: instructions, demonstrations, partner ground balls
    • Group drills, communications (help, call out ball, spacing)


2. Skills & Drills (broken up into groups). 10-12

  • Stations: shooting, passing station, ground ball station, footwork (ladder/cones) 
    • break into age groups for stations
    • 10 min each station (water between)
  • Transitional drills (un-even, GB competitions, 3v3/4v4) 

LUNCH BREAK 12-12:30

3. Group Discussion & Break Up for Positional Training. 12:30-1

  • Break into Offense/Defense/goalies, instructions/strategies for each position…
    • Drills to Reinforce Instruction;
    • Coaching Examples/ personal experiences leading to success. 

BREAK (5 minutes)

4. Scrimmage Session & Breakdown of Lacrosse IQ & Game Situation. 1-2

  • Scrimmage (5v5) Importance of Position & Ball Movement
  • Relay races (cones, hurdles, etc..) 
  • Small Prizes for Winners      
  • Camper of the Day, best Offense/Defense of day, Best Listener, Most Improved, Etc…
  • Breakdown the Day – Question/Answer period

End @ 2pm 

Day 2

1. Warm Up & Discussion: 9am

  • Dynamic Warm-up…
  • 5 drills you can do at home to get better…
  • 5 drills you can do with a partner to help both of you improve…
  • Line Drills…
  • Furthest pass competition with prizes…
  • Break at 10

2. Skills & Drills (broken up into groups). 10:15-12

  1. Stations: shooting, ground balls, footwork, passing…
  2. Draws: how to take them, what to do, have small competitions…
  3. Riding/clearing/transition drills: explain concepts (keep it short) and practice…
  4. Furthest shot competition for prize

LUNCH BREAK 12-12:30

3. Group Discussion & Break Up for Positional Training. 12:30-1

  1. Offense/Defense/goalies…
    1.  Drills for each position 

BREAK (5 minutes)

4. Scrimmage Session & Breakdown of Lacrosse IQ & Game Situation. 1-2

  1. Scrimmage (5v5)…
  2. Relay races…
  3. Breakdown the day, answer any questions, prizes for the day…

End @ 2

*Please make sure your athlete brings the following things every day in order to participate:

1.     Lacrosse Equipment (Stick, Mouthpiece, Goggles, & Cleats)
2.     Water/Gatorade/Snacks/Lunch
3.     Sun Screen
4.     Reversible dark/white jersey

Coach Willox and Coach Cook will also be passing out informational flyers for additional Training, Drills, Etc.  


Registration Costs

LNU Summer Camp: $150.00 Per Girl

Requests for refunds are handled on a case by case basis and must be in writing to [email protected] In general, however, by registering for any Lake Norman United program, the registrants agree and understand that due to the nature and expense of pre-planned leagues, tournaments, and select teams, Lake Norman United Lacrosse has a policy of no refunds.

 that all the information above is accurate at the time of posting to the web site, and that all the information contained is subject to change based on final registration numbers, field contracts, and a number of other unforeseen factors that impact the administration of lacrosse leagues and programs in the Charlotte area. 


Due to the anticipated number of students wishing to participate, registration forms will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.   Also, while we will make every attempt to re-schedule practices & games that are canceled due to inclement weather, we can not guarantee that canceled practices or games will be re-scheduled.
